Rick McGee’s Space-Rover Returns

A few years ago, Rick McGee lent his amazing talents to my first illustrated children’s book, Frank Jordan: Evil Snowman. Shortly after Frank Jordan’s release, Rick released his own original creation, Space Rover. Today, Rick launched a Kickstarter campaign to bring Space-Rover back for round two!

“The cosmic canine returns in Book 2 as an old nemesis strikes back. This time, Space-Rover will need new friends to help him win the battle and save the day. Featuring new planets and characters, Space-Rover and the Prickly Planet is a fun adventure that continues the astronaut dog’s trek across the galaxy. Full-color, 32-pages, with fun characters your kids will enjoy and remember.”

This is Rick’s fourth Kickstarter project, and all three of his past campaigns reached their goal. Space-Rover was a huge hit with my kids, and Rick has some fantastic incentives available.

Please visit Space-Rover and the Prickly Planet on Kickstarter and pledge your support today!

Support Local Bookstores!

Christmas is coming, and if you’re wise, you’re already Christmas shopping. If you’re a shop local fan in the Louisville area, here’s where you can pick up a few of my books:

The Nerdy Planet – Owned by Ken and Myra Daniels, the promoters behind FandomFest and Fright Night Film Fest, you’ll find this little comic shop south of the Gene Snyder on Preston Highway. They’ve always got some special event going almost every weekend, whether it’s celebrating the return of The Walking Dead or celebrating Batman’s birthday. Frank Jordan: Evil Snowman and Bluegrass Brawlers are both on the shelf out there.

Karen’s Book Barn – A gem of a used bookstore in the historic downtown section of LaGrange, Karen’s is the kind of place where a book lover can lose themselves for hours. They’re also high supporters of local authors and feature a wide range of local books right up front. Frank Jordan: Evil Snowman, Bluegrass Brawlers, and Tales from the Dad Side are all available for sale here.

Karen’s Book Barn

There are fewer and fewer independent bookstores still surviving in the Internet age. The ones that remain, however, are by and large pretty darn awesome.

Karen’s Book Barn is one such place. Located on Main Street in the historic district of LaGrange, Kentucky, Karen’s Book Barn is a little shop filled with books and bursting with character. It’s a book lover’s dream from the moment you walk inside and feel the creak of the old wooden floor beneath your feet, and the shelves are jammed with used – sometimes vintage – books of all genres.

Karen’s is now owned by a trio of book lovers including a published author and a former publisher. They are extremely friendly to independent and local authors, and their calendar is jammed with special events, book signings, and more. They also offer special editing services to authors who want to get their books ready for market at a reasonable price.

If you’re in the Louisville or Southern Indiana, Karen’s is worth a visit. And if you’re an author in the region, you need to drop in and introduce yourself.

Kudos to the owners at Karen’s Book Barn for all they do to keep reading alive, and thank you again for the opportunity to read on Sunday. Looking forward to many returns!

Goodreads Giveaway: Tales from the Dad Side!

Tales from the Dad SideI’m giving away FIVE copies of Tales from the Dad Side on Goodreads this week! This is a great collection of short stories for dads and kids to share at bed time or whenever the mood strikes. Read below to learn more about the book, then click here to enter!

Once upon a time, there was a dad who didn’t want to tell the same old bedtime stories. Sure, he loved fairy tales as much as the next guy, but why tell the same old stories about pigs and bears and princesses when you can make up your own?

TALES FROM THE DAD SIDE is what happens when a dad and his kids decide to make up their own stories. Screenwriter and author John Cosper and his kids created a collection of stories featuring pigs, wolves, dogs, cats, robots, chickens, parrots, monsters, dragons, aliens, cockroaches, princesses, honey badgers, Star Wars haters, and one really, really angry bird!

This newly revised edition includes ten brand new stories with more twisted fairy tales, aliens, and even a Christmas story. It also includes twelve pages of original art work by the kids who inspired the stories.

Always funny, sometimes meaningful, and always entertaining, TALES FROM THE DAD SIDE is a great escape from the ordinary bedtime – and the perfect launching pad to create your own stories and memories with your kids!

Book Reading October 23 in LaGrange, KY

Frank Jordan: Evil SnowmanOne of my new goals is to get out and meet readers face to face in the coming year. On October 23, I’ll be doing my first public book reading at Karen’s Book Barn in LaGrange, Kentucky.

Karen’s is an independent bookseller in LaGrange, a true rarity in the age of Amazon. Karen’s hosts a children’s reading hour on the fourth Sunday of every month, and on September 23, I’ll be reading Frank Jordan: Evil Snowman at 3 PM.

Karen’s Book Barn is located at 127 E. Main St. in LaGrange. I’ll have copies of Frank Jordan: Evil Snowman and Tales from the Dad Side available that afternoon.

Frank Jordan can be found in the nightmares of children this coming winter. In case of evil snowman sightings in your neighborhood, it is best to have a hot bowl of chili at the ready.
